Environment: The 2006 NVCA Annual Conference in San Francisco, sponsored by the National Venture Capital Association.
Caveats: I reviewed names from the pre-registration list, which doesn't include approximately 100 late registrants.
Count:
Women: 119
Men: 586
Women at the 2006 NVCA Annual Conference: 16.88%
I was frankly surprised that it was this high, but I don't think
there is much skew in the registration list. There were only a few
vendors present, and everyone that I personally met was an investor.
This definitely represents an improvement towards gender balance over
years past. What surprised me a bit more was that the Young VCs session
had slightly fewer females represented (15%) - I would have expected
the numbers to improve when you looked at the younger demographic.
