Flaming Art at the Crucible

The Crucible exploded this weekend with the annual Fire Arts Festival - twisting, 200' tall tornados of flame; booming fire cannons; sinuous fire dancers; and fiery metal sculpture. One of my favorites was the giant metal t-rex with flaming fangs.

And of course, what festival worth its salt doesn't come with fire-grilled meats?

I was a fan of The Mutaytor, but unfortunately my cameraphone couldn't handle the pyrotechnics. That and other attempted shots are in my Flickr stream. If you're a Black Rock City denizen, you should definitely put this event on your calendar for next summer.

PS: I tried making a side-by-side photo layout using Flickr photos, but it didn't come out well enough to post. Typepad does an OK job of this when you insert a Photo Album photo with text wrapping, but the Flickr images and footers get all smashed together.
