An interim post on Mashup Camp 2: The end-of-day reconvening on Day One bubbled up these participant takeaways:
- Ask forgiveness, not permission
- Consider group sharing of permissions on data sources, sort of a co-op
- Need more women mashing
- Rather be mashing than working 9-to-5
- Not just about technical discussions today; also starting to encompass the economic discussions that make mashups viable long term
- Lots of people looking for results on user acquisition, but we ended up with mostly questions
- Keep an open mind, rather than thinking in the same box that we always have
A few observations relative to the last mashup camp came from David Berlind: 300 people signed up the first time around, with 60 on the waiting list. Many registrants dropped off, since it was a free event (of course, that’s what happens when it easy to register.) Over 500 registered for camp this time around, and 390 came in the door today. If you look at the discussion board, there were 35 posts last time in total, and we're already past 50 on the first day of Mashup Camp 2.
