Why are so many VC's men? One example (26 out of 26)

But this is Texas . . .

With over 200 attendees, any mis-gendering is unlikely to make a significant dent in stats. I do run across some names that I can't be sure of, and in those cases I alternate. First instance I'll call a boy, second instance I'll call a girl, etc. In theory, doing a 50:50 random assignment on 1 - 5% of the names on an attendee list won't make a huge impact on the final breakdown.

As for the arbitrary girl:girl and boy:boy...well, any method for guessing what gender friend someone had brought would be arbitrary. Hence my listing it as a caveat. ;)

While I appreciate a headcount - this number is random and can't really give an accurate portrayal of the number of women. Also, as a woman who is often mistaken for a man, you probably missed me.

I'm not sure why you assume that women bring women and men bring men...almost refreshing in it's homocentricity, but confusing.

Purely anecdotal but there are far more females at Vloggercon than at other tech/geek events I have attended. Surely this is partly due to the fact that women get a lot of positive traction in front of the camera. And it also helps that no longer do you have to be a hard-core coder to play in this space.

Wow... 26.75..... not bad... I wasn't off by too much. :)

Thanks for computing the numbers!

Hopefully this is a trend that will continue but I'm wondering if it has to do with the video-centric nature of this conference.
